There is no defined value for x....or the question is wrong. Following proper algebraic calculations:

8(2x-4)=16x
2x-4=2x
2x-2x=4
0=4

or

2x-4=2x
-4=2x-2x
-4=0

8(2x-4)=16x
16x-32=16x
-32=16x-16x
-32=0

Only thing proved is the question is wrong.

check your equation again, it doesn't make sense at least to me,
16X - 16X = 32 ----> 0 = 32 (???). there is probably no answer, and i should like to think there is a mistake somewhere.

16X-32=16X
-32=0

So the answer is X is undefined or question is wrong

8(2x-4)=16x

16X-32=16X

16X-16X=-32 (take out '-' frm both d sides)
16X+16X=32
32X=32
X=32/32
X=1

As jewelking indicates, there doesn't exist any value of x for which the equation is true.
