Some apartments pay for Water, Gas, Electric and offer ammenities such as a Gym, pool, tennis courts, jogging trails, ect... Unless you have a lot of money to invest in these things for your house I think an apartment for the most part has it's advantages...it also has it's disadvantages to. Rowdy neighbors, depending on the area drugs, heavily infested african american tennants, usually gang related ect... No privacy in some cases either.

It's easier to take care of: no lawn to mow, have things fixed by the manager, etc. Lower utility bills, it usually comes with a refrigerator, stove. No properity taxes.

No lawn mowing, snow plowing, repairs, paying for trash pickup, paying for water (other amenities may be included depending on where you rent), property taxes....that's about it.
