England is now 1-6 when games go into penalties... apperantly, English soccer players choke in PSOs.

Yes, i do agree that the English team was over hyped, i believe that they were the most overated team in the world cup, with Germany being the most underated of the super power nations. England has quality players, however, Sven Erickson didn't utilize this talent. He was even experimenting with the line up during the world cup, something that should have been done months ago. England should get rid of him immediatly.

And you shouldn't be so disapointed... England lost to a great team

And by the way, Players can get a direct red card, and in this case, i do believe that Rooney deserved it. Unsportmanly conduct. He intentionally kicked him in the thigh and pushed that Portugal guy... IN FRONT OF THE REFEREE! I would have given him a red card too. As for the France game, Brazil played like crap and i thought the refereeing over all, was good. Zidane had an AMAZING game. He really controlled that midfield really well. He was playing like he was 24, not 34...

Um.....

I do agree that footballers are over paid when there is global poverty.

But that applies to every team in the world and to other over paid jobs.

I don't know if you are the only English feeling ecstatic - probably not, but I would guess that you are doing this to be perverse.

I am feeling a bit flat remembering England's defeat. I think the team had a lot of bad luck this year. I can't understand why there is hardly any reaction about Rooney's Red card - he was out of order, and his presence in the match might have made the difference.

As for Sven - well of course it has been fashionable for some time to knock him. I am not an expert on football, but I'm a psychologist and I would say he is sincere in wanting to do a good job. Of course the pay comes in very handy, but it wasn't his idea to pay football managers so much!!!

But yes, he has been the manager for a ong while and the results are OK but could be better, so yes, it's time for a new manager.

But anyone that feels as strongly about it as you do (especially coupled with your ecstacy over our defeat) is a bit strange. Do you secretly fancy him? If so, it would account for your extreme reaction......

Sorry, I'm not trying to be inflamatory or offensive to you - but you have set yourself up for that one.

I agree that 'world class' football has moved from being a game to being an entertainment. Not only are the players hyped up by the media as little superstars but they are over paid and in many cases not mentally equipped to cope with the life style.

Sven is not a turnip, however, he is a swede. The swede (known as rutabaga in the US) is a fairly recent vegetable, thought to be a cross between a turnip and a cabbage. It is usually grown as cattle feed but is also eaten mashed as 'neeps' with haggis by the Scots.

In a way I'm sad they lost, the lads out there tried hard,
They were let down by the so called super hero Rooney who's abilities are way over rated.
The Swede well what can I say he should have been binned years ago, I never liked the TW**, Any one( the FA) who thinks he(the Swede) can select a football team should all be sacked and made to answer.

it proves the point that we as a nation are all gob and no balls they didn't deserve to be in the last 16, all a bunch of spoiled namby pambies with wet nappies, mind u the cricket team ain't much better. Maybe the problem is it's not English to win only participate. When will this country look forward and realise nobody remembers second place?

I think that the referees are being paid to mess up the matches, including our match and the brazil match. Why the fcuk was rooney sent off without even having a yellow card first??????? Its a fix. No im far from being ecstatic im just pissed off for the players who worked so hard and were so determind to win for our country.
