People are dropping Mentos mints into bottles of Diet Coke to create explosive geysers. I would like to try this with my kids on the fourth of July, don't know the ratio of mints to Diet Coke, and is it safe?

The following is a website that I came across that talks about the diet coke and mentos experiment. It is really cool. It shows you a video and pictures.

The recipe is simple, about a roll of Mentos to a two liter bottle of diet coke. Beware- makes a sticky mess. I made my son and his friends wear raincoats. Great science project or just plain fun.

It's safe. I've never heard of combining two food products to make a poison. Take a bottle of cola and drop the whole roll (unrapped) in at once. You mike want to make something to do this with, because they all have to go in at once (to have the maximum explosion) and you have to get back, because it's a short experience (and you don't want to get sticky).
