Hi. Congratulations on your baby. I am the adoptive mother of the world's best just turned one year old. Although I did not give birth I went through several failed adoptions and had gained ALOT of weight eating from being depressed. I adopted my daughter at birth. As 99% of mothers can attest , your baby probably will not develop a consistent sleep pattern for many months. So I think your plan is admirable but unrealistic. As another person has said , I would invest in a home workout machine. I have a Treadclimber and love it. We made a small payment each month so it worked for our budget. I feel great, and am now very close to my desired weight (140).
As far as the baby sleeping goes, we tried lots of things with our baby and here is what worked for us. We bought a cosleeper and put it at the side of the bed so that the baby could have her own space but still be right next to us and easy to comfort during the many times she will wake up. SO MUCH better than a crib for a new baby whose parent's need sleep. Here's a link to it

Also we swaddled her in a miracle blanket

It is a must-have to get a new baby to sleep for longer periods. With all other blankets she would wiggle out and that would wake up her up.
Hope this helps. Best wishes and God bless.

I can tell you it's a challenge finding the time and then when you have the time then the energy. I don't work out like I used to but I do put the baby in her stroller and take long walks. I also do situps with her laying belly down on my calfs (although I would not suggest doing this until your baby can hold her head up). There are baby and Mommy workout tapes/dvd's. You could also ask the gym if they may have a class or some tips.
If you can do it then early morning is a great time to workout.

Well until your baby sleeps through the night you won't want to do anything except sleep. Your doctor probably told you not to exercise for a couple of weeks right? I had a c-section and my doctor told me not to exercise for 6 weeks. But I got over the initial pain 1-2 weeks after giving birth and staring taking my daughter on walks. Although in October it might be kinda cold. If the baby sleeps until after you would be getting home from the gym, yes that would be a good time. If not, babies take MANY naps and maybe there is another time you could do it. Maybe after dinner when your husband is home. My suggestion? Invest in an elliptical trainer and an exercise ball and weights for your home. I guarantee you will not want to leave that baby to work out! I found I got most of my exercise during her early afternoon nap. If you have those things at home you can take advantage of the time the baby is sleeping and every one else is gone.

Well, I don't think that you will really know until the baby is born. Your child may sleep in late in the mornings and that would make it the best time. I have a girl friend who works out to videos and DVDs in her living room while the baby naps. Or, if you can afford it and you have the space, get a treadmill or elliptical, that way you can workout when you have the 30 minutes. Good luck!

I have 2 children under 2 and I have only exercised twice in 3 months. It seems like everytime I try to do something for myself, one of the girls wakes up or needs me! What I suggest though is getting a workput tape that you really enjoy and sticking with it. I bought "Bellydancing, fitness for begginers" and love it! If you do go to the gym, I would wait until you see your daughters schedule and go when she has a long nap. If she normally sleeps in until 8 am or so, then going in the early morning will be great for you.
Remember to give yourself plenty of rest after you have the baby and dont work too hard at the gym!

I have two children, ages 2 1/2 and 16 months and wear a size 3 now! When I had my first child, I weighed 190 afterwards, but when I had my second, I didnt gain hardly anything. I didnt work out much, except to home videos, and I just watched what I ate and I guess I can say that I run after kids now which helps alot. It isnt bad to wake up early and take care of yourself to get fit. Its not like youre leaving your child unattended - its father will be there right? :) So you are okay. By the way, try to hit the 28th of oct, thats when my oldest was born :)

I would suggest you *not* bother trying to find a time to get away from baby. Instead, buy a jogging stroller and take baby with you. Or find a workout routine that works for you at home; you can buy one piece of equipment for the price of a year at most gyms.
If you need someone looking to make sure you don't "cheat", make a deal with a friend of yours to "supervise" each other and hold each other to your schedules...

Early morning is a good time to work out. I wouldn't plan it until you know your baby's schedule. But please give yourself some rest after having a baby.
