Never. We know how to make fresh, clean, drinkable water out of polluted, nasty, ocean water.

The correct question is how much of our economy are we willing to dedicate to making fresh, clean, drinkable water. I don't know how high that number is, but it's high because water is pretty important.

Never......But more likely question is , Will we run out of clean drinkable water ........... not for a long long long time . Because as it rains some of the water filters deep into the ground and settles into water sands replenishing them . this is where lots of good drinking water comes from . Wells. And they can always do a kind of filtration to clean up the water. But in most city's the water if "fortified with fluoride" which was developed as a rat poison . at least the rats died with white strong teeth.
