The world's most exclusive coffee is made from a bean which has already passed through the colon of a cat. The droppings of the Palm Civet wildcat, indigenous to the coffee plantations of Sumatra, are sold at market at about £150,000 per tonne. In Japan the coffee sells at about £10 a cup.

true.
The cat's digestive enzymes convert some of the chemicals in the coffee been into very subtle flavours and a pleasant aroma. The besns leave the cat intact. They are very caresully cleaned and disinfected dried and eventually sold for the highest cost for coffee beans in the world.
There is at least one coffee retailer in Vancouver, British Columbia Canada, (I'm sure there are others too), that buys a large quantity every year and then packages the beans into smaller bags for sale. She does mail order.
Act fast her yearly supply runs out fast.

Called Kopi Luwak, it goes for $300 a pound and relies upon the paradoxurus hermaphroditus for its, uh, cachet. The rare coffee is heralded in this month's Esquire magazine, in the annals of the National Zoo, several universities, countless trade journals, several newspapers and a half-dozen "urban legends" Web sites.

But back to the paradoxurus hermaphroditus, which is actually a 4-pound, fairly agreeable, palm-tree-dwelling civet cat that lives on the islands of Sumatra and Java.

......TRUE........

Almost correct. The absolute most exclusive coffee is made from the beans that have passed through the colons of Jewish women socialites from Manhattan.

True, though the civet is not a true cat.
