I live in Ireland (we've had problems) - but Israel are punishing an entire city of people for crimes by a few. they should know better (& 24/7 sonic booms are torture btw as a journalist I've seen it first hand)

It's not punishment in their eyes - Israel feels the need to act as such. They came into Palenstine being told by Europeans it was their land to find a bunch of people of different race refusing to budge. So they used force and are now using terrorism. Israel needs sercurity - they have never felt safe anywhere in their history. These terrible actions are the only way they feel they can acheive that. It's not genocide, but terrorism in a different form. Remember, the Palenstinians are not perfect themselves. Their goverment is a terrorist group and they have plenty more suicide bombers than Israel does.
I do not agree with either side, but I feel each side can be supported. This ongoing war in the Middle East is a mess and cannot be called anyone's fault - European, Israeli, Palenstinian, American. They all play their parts.
And just to let you know - it's about 5 million people. Palenstinians are scattered throughout the occupied territories (Gaza, West Bank, Jerusalem, Golan Heights) as well as refugee camps in Lebanon, Jordan and Syria. People everywhere they are building a wall against. It's unjust from every aspect.

The Palestinian Hamas is a terrorist group. Forgive me for not having massive amounts of sympathy. Israel handed them Gaza and the Palestinians proceeded to tear it up. Israel gave the Palestinians Gaza as sort of a peace offering and the Palestinians are not really doing much to promote the peace.
The very first headline I read on Drudge this morning was:
"Israel warns" Free Soldier or Prime Minister Dies". They aren't *****-footing around and Hamas knows it. All they have to do is let this kid go. I hope to God they haven't killed him.

Try to keep up:
A. Weapons factories require electricity to build rockets
B. Israel shuts down the electricity
C. The Gaza Arabs can no longer build rockets to fire at Israeli towns such as Sderot and Ashkelon.
(Or are you conveniently unaware that Israel has been suffering rocket attacks every single day since handing over Gaza, and prior?)

Guess they are trying to send a message that for one of their people kidnapped, a million of the opposing side will suffer. The ratio does not seem to tally but then it may make Hamas put a restraining order on their members.
Does anyone really have a solution to the on goings in the Middle East? So much hate and killings and anger seething in that place.

as a Geordie, I find it heart breaking that Gaza's went so down hill since Sheril left him.
I am sick of another hot country where he's stripped.
he gives us a bad name, especially in jerusalem where baby jesus was born.
i can tell you the only way to stop fighting, ban religion.
personally i am sick to death of hearing about other countries ****...let them fight, the strongest will win, then there will be peace.

The IRA never killed kids. Never want to never tried to. But the Palestinians have and do try. If the Ira stated they wanted to take the last English child in to the sea and hold it head under till it was gone. Would you be so nice to them. Islam wants to kill any one that is different than them and they have the will and the guns to try.
