While trying to watch internet based videos through Windows Media Player, Quicktime, or Real Player, recently I get an error claiming that I am not connected to the internet.. but obviously I am connected.. I don't know what's going on, and I hope I don't have to reformat my computer in order to fix this problem... if someone could help me, I'd be grateful.. this is an annoying problem..

thanks

I'm on Broadband Cable.. and its not my firewall, i turned it off.. and I'm still getting the "Not Connected" message.. its starting to get a little aggivating.. this has happened once before, and i ended up reformating my computer.. not really too eager to do that again.. gets annoying and wears out the harddrive each time you do..

Perhaps it is "too slow?" Are you using a slow "dial-up" connection and trying to access broadband content? You would then be "not connected" at a sufficient speed to access the content you are trying to get!

If this is not the case, you might also look at blockages caused by inappropriate firewall settings. Some users "overprotect" their computers by locking themselves in a closed firewall!
