You talk about Christanity teaching you to give the other cheek. The truth is that when it comes down to it, no-one actually practices this. Look at the response from a Christian president of the USA at the terrorist attacks. Can anyone say that Bush should give the terrorists another building to blow up! And not only that, so much terrible vengeance that thousands of innocents were killed just for living in the same country! So please, don't talk like this. Islam also teaches forgiveness but it also says that if someone can't reach this lofty height, or if a criminal can only be reformed by punishment, then punishment/vengeance to the extent that one has been wronged is allowed and even desirable. A much more sensible teaching Don't use Zidane's weakness to criticise Islam, he has said before that he is not a very religious Muslim, so do try to use that. He seems to me like a simple man, but a hard man with a hard background and with self respect, which is more than I can say for most Christians, who seem to worship the culture of their former Colonial masters. What Zidane did was wrong, but let he who is without sin, cast the first stone.

Zidane was born in Marseille from Kabyle parents. Kabyles are the real Algerians. The arabic settler imposed his language and religion to the natives so they are not really practising muslims. Zidan has only Islamic background. one of his son's name hi Elyaz but the others have European names
I don't know if an Israeli club wanted him, but it would be a silliness to compare the football level between Europe and the rest of the world without even speaking about the wages.
More information about him in wikipedia
I wish you all a nice day

ZZ was born into a muslim family but has gone on to say that he does not practise Islam. He married a christian and his children all have christian names. Zidane is not muslim by any standard, i would say he was French, his culture, language wife and kids are French, so i think Zidane has defined who he is and that is someone born into a family whose religion is Islam.

Since you bring up that Zidane is a Muslim, perhaps you can help to clarify what type of Muslim he is?
Is he a violently radical Muslim? Which views does he follow? Is he open to Christianity?
Does he remain private with his views and thus we can only focus on Zidane the Soccer Player?
Faith is a very good topic to discuss, but it is not appropriate in the context of open soccer/world cup discussion. Perhaps this topic should fall under Religion and not sports???
For what it's worth, I am an American, a Christian and a huge fan of the FFF. Zidane is truly a master on the pitch and I enjoy watching he and his team play the game. I don't know anyone on the team personally and do not care to speak to them outside of their soccer.
My faith and my relationships with those around me have the sacrifices which warrant influence on each others lives.

Zidane is a Muslim, and his wife is Christian. But Muslim men are allowed to marry Christians or Jews to bring them to Islam. He gave a lot of donations to Algeria. So may Allah reward him for his good deeds...
