In the latest survey, Abu Dhabi placed No. 30 among the most expensive places in the world to live in and Dubai, No. 25. This is, at the least, an indication how much the cost of living would be here compared to your city or to other places.

But then again it all boils down to lifestyle and what comfortable living means to you. If you want your own flat or villa, I guess more than AED 10,000 would be the salary that you have to earn as rents have gone skyhigh here. Likewise for tuition fees and other related costs if you are bringing your child(ren) with you. Likewise if you need a nanny or a househelp.

Most workers here though do not earn that much, most laborers earn from AED500-700 with free accommodation, househelp from AED 600-2000, sales people from 1,500-4500(or more), secretaries(general), 1200-3500 but then they have to scrimp on everything which means an uncomfortable and pathetic living conditions.

Though this should not dissuade you from accepting the offer. What I know is that auditors, especially those with experience with the big 4, or who have been working for several years are usually paid good salaries. Financial analysts should get from aed10K up. Evaluate your lifestyle, see if you can trade in your present one to the one here in the UAE. Don't uproot your family from your country too soon. You can come here first and see first hand what this country offers you and then if you feel good about it, then that's the time to bring your family. In any case, it would be easier for you to go back if you don't like it here and the offer is not good enough.

Where are you? It would be the same cost to live in Los Angeles upscale neighborhood. Or Upscale Boston say Cambridge. I'm trying to give examples in case you live in the US. Not cheap but doable. And the most wonderful place in the world in my opinion. i worked there 11 years ago and am waiting until AbuDhabi has their Freehold housing under way to retire there. I live in
Southern California but there is no place like the UAE. Go for it if they pay enough...you will never regret it. Great schools if you have children. Good luck
