It rolls forward quite a bit. The car is an automatic.
Is this normal. I just brought the car.

Ok I'm assuming you are facing down hill, it's an automatic transmission, its a four cyclinder. The problem here is the car isn't holding in place while the throttle is idling.

If the car begind to roll down hill until you give it gas it just means
a.) you may need to adjust the idle - the car is idling low and isn't building enough intertia in the torque converter

b.) The transmission fluid may be old or low. - again not enough viscosity to hold the torque converter.

keep in mind your car is old and pretty much all Honda's of that age I've driven will run back/forward a little until you give it enough throttle to really engage the torque converter.

the hill must be pretty steep or there is something wrong with the transmission. try parking it the opposite direction and putting it in reverse to see if it does the same thing. if it does take it to a mechanic.

It´s trying to give you a chance to 'reverse' your mind - sorry, could not help it!

they do roll forward a bit, but not as strong as you report. Go back to the dealer and have it checked. Safe driving!
