Like, any hand soap or clothes detergent.... does it have to make bubbles in order to clean a surface??

no, but it seems wierd when there are no suds, doesn't it.

Most often the suds are cause by added ingredients (such as sodium laureth) that are bad for the environment....and really do little or nothing to aid the cleansing effectiveness.
We have come to associate suds and bubbles with getting clean so it is hard at first to get used to using products that don't contain these ingredients because they don't foam up like we think they should. Rest assured...they get the job done.

I dont think it is essential for the soap to make bubbles. It should clean the skin by gentle rubbing with hands after it has been applied.

in regards with clothes detergent, the bubbles does not do anything with cleaning. there is a chemical that manufacturers add, to make it bubbles...
