The man in the newspaper article below is actually the father of a boy at my sons playgroup. A close friend of mine showed me and others at playgroup the article as none of us knew who or what he was (a filthy paedophile).
Playgroup has maintained that he is being monitored by them, but at the christmas party he walked in with a smirk in his face with a video camera round his neck, and a digital camera in his hand. As all the mums were mortified by the possibility that he could be taking photos of their kids, we all agreed that NO-ONE was allowed to take photos, just so he couldn't. Another mum rang a helpline about him and was told that he shouldn't be taking photos if he is on licence, but no-one seems to want to do anything about it. Even the police don't seem to want to help us.
Surely, if he is on licence and breaks his terms, he should be punished further as he obviously hasn't learnt his lesson!?
How can i find out what the terms are?
Anyone else been in this predicament??

Man jailed for child porn
From the archive, first published Monday 9th Feb 2004.
A man found with almost 600 indecent images of children has been jailed for three months and will then spend three years on licence.
Martin Gunn, 34, of Beech Road, Wheatley, pleaded guilty in December to possessing 596 images, which police discovered on a CD ROM following a search of his home in December 2002.
Gunn appeared at Oxford Crown Court to be sentenced.
David Lyons, defending, said it was likely Gunn would lose his job and the chances of him getting fresh employment in the near future would be hard.
Mr Lyons said Gunn acknowledged what he had done was wrong, and urged a community-based punishment so he could start getting help immediately.
Judge Mary-Jane Mowat said the case was serious enough to warrant a prison sentence.
Gunn also has to join the sex offenders' register.

The police and judges are predominantly men, and presumably this is why they have little interest in what happens to women and children. The main problem with sex offenders re-offending is that they let them out. Clearly the rights of offenders have more importance than the right to not be assaulted.
In the case of this man, or ones like him, I suggest you make it widely known that the police don't care, by writing to local and national newspapers, and call radio stations and write to your MP. Perhaps then the local police will be shamed into doing something positive.

If a paedophile got hold of one of the children of say, a politician, or a royal, the laws would be changed instantly. The reason nothing is done when murderers are released and kill again, and that perverts ruin the lives of people and are released to re-offend is that nobody cares except the family of the victims, and their friends. A young girl is raped, the answer is "Oh well, she must have asked for it" a child is mentally scarred for life, and answer is"they are lying" a pregnant woman is killed, the sentence is 8 months- but if they break into a big flash house and take a few trinkets, its an instant 10 year sentence!! Why?? because in this country since Thatcher, property is more valuale than life, and unless you have money or a title, nobody gives a ****.

I appreciate your concern. I am a parent myself, and the worst thing that could happen would be that my child would be damaged in any way by a paedophile. The number one priority of any parent is to protect your child from harm.
I feel shocked to the core every time I read or hear about any child being harmed. When I think it through, I also feel alarmed and disgusted by the idea that there are people in this world who would want to treat children in this way. I hope that we can trust the police and other authorities to apprehend these warped individuals so that our children will be safe.
But we also need to be aware that (understandably) the thought of paedophiles stirs up such primitive anxiety in us that it is possible to project all of this on to one person and then it can turn into a witch hunt. I am not suggesting that this is what is happening here - clearly this man has been convicted of an offence and he is acting suspiciously. I am very sorry that the poilice are not doing more to answer your questions.
But there have been cases of ordinary men being mistaken for paedophiles and being mobbed by tabloid newspapers, etc. I think it is important to try and keep a clear perspective on this.
I wish we lived in a world where we didn't have to worry about sick people harming our children. But we do not. Sadly it is part of life that we have to be aware of this threat to our safety. All we can do is take care of our children and help each other to feel strong.

First of all, the police in the UK is widely inept, under-staffed and under-funded. They can only do a limited amount of work and it is impossible for them to do all the things politicians heap up on them at the same time.
Secondly, the British public is hyped-up by the tabloid press (for their own reason, which is selling more newspapers to gullible people) into a frenzy about paedophiles, who are usually described as "dirty single men who live alone and are a danger to our children". The tabloid press picks single cases and makes them look big and important, even though they are the exception to the rule.
It is a fact that more than 90% of all paedophiles are relatives of the molested children. They live in their homes or are members of their family or close social circle. Strangely enough, one never reads about these people in the tabloid press.
Thirdly, both media and government are always happy to have a suitable target for public outrage, in order to deflect from the real problems, mistakes and cockups of our society. And for the past few years that target is "the paedophile". According to our legal system, everyone should be equal before the Law, and when a sentence is served, the person should be free to get on with life outside prison. This goes for all other criminals, including murderers and violent gangsters. But not for "paedophiles" who have to register with the police and are hounded for the rest of their lives.
I have no sympathy for these people, but I am concerned for the fairness of our legal system. We are liable to succumb to blind vigilantism and lynch mob rule if this atmosphere of orchestrated hate against a small minority of men (who are clearly mentally ill) continues.
And, by the way, even the word "paedophile" is used incorrectly.
The word as such means "friend of children". The people who abuse and molest children are "paederasts", but using correct language was never a particular priority of our tabloid press.

Because we live in a crazy liberal society, run by imbeciles that live on a different planet to us. Lets face it it's hard to see the evils in the world or feel unsafe when you're surrounded by armed guards 24/7,
fortunately for us they seem to be having a wake up call because of all the bad press they've been getting over crime and punishment, particularly the release of nonce's that re-offend shortly after coming out.
All we can hope as subjects of this joke we call a country is that it's not just another knee jerk overreaction, producing another piece of legislation that becomes impossible to enforce or useless when it comes to being used!
(Thanks!! I needed to get that off my chest!! Lol!!)
