Oh please... Of course it's sad to see the team you've been rooting on... but really people are so naiive...
Argentina is not a newbie in this kind of a tournament. They knew what they were going to expect. They knew the referees would probably side with Germany. They knew they would have yellow/red card problems. They knew it was going to be a tough game. They KNEW ALL OF THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN.
Even the coach of Argentina mentioned this before the match in an interview. And although I'm not quite sure of this, I think that to be a coach for a great team like Argentina, you'd have to have TONS of experience in big tournaments like this... He said in the interview that he's going to prepare for everything: Home advantage, yellow card and foul problems, biased referees, the crowd, the PK... He actually said that this game would probably go to the PKs. And all of this did happen... (Although I think the referee was quite fair, he did give yellow cards to the German side as well you know. Although if you were rooting for Argentina, you wouldn't NOTICE. )He said the players will play with these facts in mind. Yet he failed to be prepared for it. Even though the referee was actually pretty fair if you consider all the other biased rulings in the past games...Italy vs Australia?? Or Henry's dive in France vs Spain?? Remember South Korea 2002?? So, he knew this would happen..
How did they lose? Bad Judgement and Bad Luck...He underestimated the Germans. Even though Germany didn't play as well as they did in the past matches, that was because they were focusing on defense. They knew how dangerous Argentina's attack was. They knew Argentina was better than them. But after the first goal broke out(excellent goal, I'd like to add. Beautiful) the Germans started to regain their offensive playing style(although weaker compared to earlier matches), and the coach of Argentina put more effort on defense. And the Germans score...
The unfortunate injury of the goal keeper didn't help either... Although only Klose himeself would know, I didn't see this as intentional. Klose isn't actually petit. He's very big, and his thighs are very thick.
The Germans managed to put up a fight and they went to extra time, and managed to win at the PKs. The kicks from the Germans were superior to Argentina. They should have planned ahead for this. They should have kicked harder and better so that Lehmann wouldn't be able to read the ball. He read the path of all of them!! They knew Lehmann was world class. If they were really preparing for the PKs as they said they were, they should have done a better job. Even without the goalkeeper problem, if they'd scord all 5, they wouldn't have lost.
Even with all the advantages Germany had, Argentina did outplay the hosts. They were superior. They would've won if they had played home or in another continent. And I think highly of them for that even though I am a fan of Germany. (And for your information, I'm not German, nor am I related to one) But.. Like I said, they knew this was going to happen and they should have been prepared. The coach shouldn't have made such bad choices. They weren't naiive, for God's sakes people!! They've been in this business long enough to know how it goes.

It is really sad to see them go. The Germans were playing very dirty right from the start of the game. They were actually playing the game for a penalty shoot out, they knew that was the only chance they had with the Argentines. Intentionally taking out the Argentine referee. The Argentines were definitely the better players, if you watch the game from the start to the finish. It feels really horrible to give more you can, play your heart out and at the end all is based on "the luck of the dram". The Argentines are still the gods of soccer. Goooooo ARGENTINA!!!!!!!!!!

I agree that Argentina played much better than Germany....Germany is an average team, Argentina is a team filled with talented players who play world class football. But, what can you do? I wouldn't be surprised if the same happens if they play with Brazil because its all FIXED.

germany didnt impress me. they didnt win because they are a better team. they won because the coach of argentina made very bad choices in taking out his key players because they "looked tired". he cost the team the game and im glad hes quitting. argentina played better than germany and its a shame that they had to lose on penalty shots.

I think they are upset they didn't have the possibility to cheat and win through a "handball". Where is "the hand of God" when you need it?
