Most Windows updates should be available as downloadable files. Use a File downloader manager instead of relying on Windows download window which is not resumable.
Use downloader manager like FlashGet. You can start and stop anytime you like.
When a Windows download stuff up -you have to restart the download from the beginning again!

Windows updates should be set at 'automatic' and it does its own thing at 3am in the morning. You have to sometimes accept it will update when you are working, the updates don't take affect until you reboot.
