In some ways.the black neighborhoods are still not shown or given business opportunities i.e.contract bids and Mississippi farm subsidies. Black people are still being sent to prison more often and for longer sentences while their white counterparts are not for the same crimes. if you go south of the mason dixon line ,you will notice that black growth is stunted overall except for a few places like ATL-Atlanta. We have work to do!!! Firstly, people on both sides of the issue need to stop passing down that sense of hopelessness and racism.Unity among blacks needs to happen period. Peace.

I am not sure I understand quite what you mean, but this is my opinion.
For the most part the younger black generation(40 and lower) are not. Their basic position is deal with me on an equal basis now...and I am not going to take no for an answer. The older generation are still very much aware of the slavery era and because of it realize that it has robbed them of their culture and heritage. Along with it came some extremely brutal treatment. On the other hand because of it they are now American citizens and are able to take advantage of the rewards of having been born and living in the worlds greatest country...though not perfect.
In many people(mostly whites) the slave mentality still exist and it manifest itself through prejudiced, bigotry and segregation. All in all it is understood by a majority of blacks that they have come a long way...but still have a long way to go. Thought that era is a significant part of the past it is useless to dwell on it. Moving forward... positively toward the future is much more important.

no.
why should they? none of the blacks that were slaves are alive today and they live much better than when they were slaves.
in other related news..did you know that there are more slaves today..yes today..than they were in the history of the human race?
there are so many slaves in every city in the US and around the world.
people are still sold like sheep in places like Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, etc..and they are told they will have a better life elsewhere..they end in prositution dens and work as sex slaves.
many have come to the US too.
people just don't care about this..but it's a big issue.
blacks should realize that they aren't the only slaves.

perhaps. If they are it's because they allow themselveds to be. THe black people of today can't seem to drop the transition words suchas "ni***" or my "ni**er." The other day I heard a black boy call a white boy a "cracker" but claimed he was just joking. Then the day before that, a woman used the excuse that the reason she wasn't getting any customer service was becuase she was black! It really is getting old. Can't we just learn to move on?

that's greater the ecosystem wherein they're raised - they're normally caught in a cycle of poverty. There are whites in that cycle too, yet there are numerous greater black families caught there via fact of our united states's background with slavery and segregation. this is socioeconomic greater beneficial than something. a airborne dirt and airborne dirt and mud unfavourable inner city black adolescents has much greater in elementary with a airborne dirt and airborne dirt and mud unfavourable inner city white adolescents, than an larger-center type suburban black adolescents. the better-center type black young toddlers do no longer communicate "ghetto", they're basically like the white young toddlers raised in that ecosystem.

You question should read are "Blacks still effected by oppression" not slavery. Because working free may not be hardships on a person when that's all they know. Butt being oppress can, it's not that blacks were slaves it that blacks were oppress as slaves and as free.

i think the slavery part hav been resolved.........in most part of the world.......not sure abt the persians(arabs, egyptians etc)
even tho the slavery ended ,the abuse still continues all over the world.......im sure abt tht....can nyone disagree???........i think the most safest place to live as ablack person wud be in india.
nw i know most wud jumb on me,,but wait....in india no one is exempted legally frm nytin jus bcoz of his/her skir colour, but the only problem exists only in social fators(marriage, datiing , communal activities). but, u sure can demand ur rights if its denied jus coz u were dark skinned.....nd ya....the most important factor, most of the indians are black........don stay thinkin tht all indians hav light skin as in bollywood .........its a bloody f**kin racist industry in india.........they are the main culprites if at all there are any.
