You can do several things to save space on you HD.First of all you if you have a cd burner you can burn all your music files to disc and then delete them from your computer. You can do the same if you have a dvd burner with video files.(these type files take up the most space).Secondly you can remove(from add/remove programs in the control panel) any programs you no longer use. Thirdly you can defrag your computer but that won't open much space. You can also make data cd's of your document folders and then delete them from the computer or zip up those files using winzip or winrar and that will open space. You could always just get a bigger HD,but if that is not an option the ones I gave you should open up quite a bit of space for you.Of course simple things like deleting cookies, cache, and defragging help but not all that much they don't take up near as much space as music & video files, games, unused programs and even documents if you have a lot of them.thats where you will gain the most space which is why I suggested you concentrate on those.

Provide more information for the correct solution to be offered to you.
but the others are right you can use disc clean up and defrag to clean up your drive but thats all they do. you have to empty your internet cache often. typicaly you can set this to empty daily or you can clean it manualy at any time.
however you have the option (if your drives are formatted to default in windows XP and above) to compress your drive to save space. be adviosed this compression will take quite some time to implement if your drives are almost full now.
you can always use your DVD burner to creat DVDs of the files you dont use that often, be advised though to make TWO copies of each DVD you burn this is especialy true for movies picture and music YOU own the copyright too as it would be impossible to get these back if the DVD develops a fault.
Alternatively the next best thing to do would be to install a second or more Hard Drive in your System.
you will need to open up your PC to see what drives your system support internaly PATA/EIDE/IDE or SATA
Alternatively you can add an external hard drive to your system.
in the UK see www.dabs.com or anyother reputable pc components supplier for the drives or parts you want.
be advised of www.grc.com to both check your firewall and to buy the disk drive recovery tool called spinrite.

Backup everything you don't need! Besides that, it's not worth your time to go through all the small files that add up and fill your hard drive. Your easiest option would be to buy an entirely new hard drive. I just bought a new 250 Gig Maxtor from Fry's Electronics yesterday for $70. Think about conserving your time, just buy more space!

Very easy with this excellent programme that comes highly rated. Go to http://www.ccleaner.com and download CCleaner - its free. It does not install any spyware and you can also optionally disable the included Yahoo! toolbar during installation if you like. Once installed click the big ANALYZE button and wait. Once Ccleaner has done it's stuff click RUN CLEANER. This little app can save you Gigs of space in a matter of seconds........ Enjoy :)

Stop downloading stuff. Clean your Internet cache regularly. Uninstall programs you don't use. And don't scatter your files out on your harddrive. Be organized and you'll find it so much easier to keep your PC clean.

Everything that was said above was great, but another thing you could do is another hard drive. Not too expensive either.
