I'm an attorney in California and kramback123 is essentially correct. Just because something bad happens on your property doesn't make you liable. Sometimes it is just an unfortunate accident. You need to prove fault in order to recover damages.

I had a client who wanted to sue Target once because she fell and hurt her knee really bad on type of liquid soap. Another customer had dropped a bottle and caused the spill. My client had already fallen by the tim this other customer had notified the story manager of the spill. It was a bad situation, but it wasn't Target's fault and they weren't responsible.

Boy can I answer this!! I live in Florida, and had major damage the last two years from hurricanes. Our business has insurance coverage to protect us from this type of catastrophe, and yes, you can file a claim against any homeowner, business if you are injured on their premises, or via their flying debris

Only if certain questions are answered:
Was the problem foreseeable?
Was the display set up real flimsy (i.e. negligently)?
Can you demonstrate or "prove" negligence by a preponderance of evidence (as opposed to beyond a reasonable doubt)?
