Traditional Christianity teaches that women should submit to men generally, and that wives in particular should submit to their husbands. Conservative Christian organizations have been emphasizing this teaching more and more because modern society has tended to reject it. Are they right, though, that marriage would be better if women simply submitted instead of insisting on equality?

Marriage is better when the woman and the man are equal to each other, respect each other, communicate with each other, and are supportive emotionally and physically with each other.
A submissive woman is not a happy woman unless it is in her nature (or her plans) to be submissive. I am not a submissive woman. Tried it, didn't like it.
I like a submissive man better.
You know...on his knees...unclothed...begging me for mercy...now we are talking about my type of equality...

YES. Sometimes I feel like I can't physically breathe. I know exactly how you feel, feel like you can't even move, have a moment or a deep breathe. Feel restricted, constricted and maybe even a bit oppressed. I know now that if I ever get divorced, I would never get married again. I enjoy my freedom too much and I like having complete control over my life. In a marriage, if your spouse does something, it effects you. I don't like that. You are doing exactly what I use to do. I took the Bible too literally. When it says we are to submit, it doesn't mean our entire thought process is suppose to be submitted. We are still suppose to be happy, have our own mind and the like. We are suppose to be our mates partner, that is why he made us from the rib and not the backbone. You do have a right to say what you want and how you feel and your husband should at least consider what you say. If I were you, I would at least have some type of income, be it Mary K or Avon, it will make you feel more free. Good luck, being a Christain wife is hard, but you can't just become his wife and your childrens mother. You are still (insert your name here). Do not forget that.

Women of ore were considered as secondary people and they were forced to submit to their husband because they had to depend on them for everything. But the modern women are doing things equal to men. So there has to be balance between them. Only if the husband and wife share in everything including household work, life will be peaceful. Otherwise it will the hell let loose. This should be meaning of marriage these days. This is common for an atheist as well as a believer.

What a ridiculous question to ask in the year 2006!
I'd say your lucky this is online rather than at a confrence full of women!!!
The days of women doing as they are told are over.
Hopefully, things will keep evolving the way they are so we women can get these moronic men out of government & run countries in a better fashion!!!
Why do you think "Traditional Christianity" is being left behind in the dark ages with the old school minds?
Wake up call coming you way!!!!!

Somehow I think you have gotten a little lost along the way.

Why would a woman insist on "equality"?

Submission is required on and from both husband and wife toward each other.

This is how it is worked out:

Eph 5:21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
Comment: See that? "Submitting yourselves one to another "

Eph 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
Comment: A wife submits herself to her Lord by submitting to her husband.

Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
Eph 5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
Comment: See this? A man submits himself unto his Lord by "loving his wife"

Comment: Both submit themselves unto their Lord but in different ways toward each other.
That's why men are "made" that way...to love their wives (and the woman are glad of it)

Is it easier to submit or do you think it is easier to love?

Imagine this: Two people in a boat with oars. Both are equiped to row. However, only one rows.
Q: In which direction will the boat go?

A: Round and round in circles. (Which is where many marriages are going right this very minute) But when both pull equally on the oars, direction is now possible, a course is set, a destination is now "reachable".

Conclusion: A marriage is better off when the man loves, as God intended, and when the wife submitts, as God intended.

Hell YEAH! Have you ever seen the show Big Love?

I don't think of it as submission. Thats a word that liberals want you to use so they can characterize it as bad. Its called "GENDER ROLES"

I stems from the old days when the man went out an killed the antelope, while the woman took care of the kids!

BTW Shawonda, and her Amazonian friends will have to wait a long time before men hand over the reigns of the world to women. Plus you don't want to rule the world you could break a nail, miss that good soap, or have to sacrifice time at the mall.
