I think the general interpretation can be that he believed the psyche was a form of checks and balances system with emotion and so forth acting within the psyche to both produce "unknown" states-that is states that would be natural given a system of functionality and checks and balances, and freedom to exercise intellectual control outside of the "dominion" of an internal order of several competing systems tied in to experience and emotion.

For me, as one of the student that getting Gen. Psychology...I believe that the point of view of Mr. Freud is the understanding and cure of mental and nervous disorders which according to him were caused by unconciousmental processes....hhe attribute inner conflicts on the individual to repression of desires which remain submerge to his subconcious...
