【Your friend's information might be right for foreigners who want to enter Taiwan's college】

Hi there!
I'm a sinior high school student in Taiwan!

I'll try my best to explain to you in English.

-----------First section - about our studies------------

For these people who are trying to enter a college(or you say university) , like us, need to study

these subjests:

Chinese (most of them are old Mandarin poems and articles)

English (reading about different kinds of articles and memorizing lots of vocabulary words in a

lesson)

Math (I went Plano East high school of Texas before and it is about the same)

History ( China old history, Taiwan history and Foreign history)

Geography ( geography of China, Taiwan and the world)

Citizens of Society (Common senses of life, invironment, economy, goveronment and some about the

world)

【These that I just listed are for the people who choose to study in "Language Major"】

(I have to say that when we upgrade to the second year of sinior we have to choose between

"Language Major" and "Science Major" and "Nature Science Major", then I myself choose Language

Major)

For people who choose to study "Science Major" needs to study two more subjests:

Physics (I don't know much)
Chemistry ( I don't know much, too)

And for "Natural Science Major", they'll have to study one more subjest: Natural Science.

------------------First section over---------------------

------------Second section - about the test--------------

We have two choices for the test.
The first big test is called "General Scholastic Ability Test" in Chinese.
Its contents include all kinds of subjects (No mattar what Major studies).
It constringe to five subjects: Chinese, English, Math, Society and Science.
The definition of these subjest is from Book1 to Book4(first and second year studies)

●If you do well on this test, you could be commeded by the teacher to have an interview with the

college's professors. Or you could just enter by application(depends on your grades)●

And it is usually held on February.

The second choice of the big test is called "Appointed subjects test" in Chinese.
It's optional, but more harder than the first test.
You could choose to test in Chinese, English, Math of the first class(Hard), Math of the second

class(Easier), Society and Science, depends on the college of its required grades and subjects.
The definition is from Book1 to Book6(that means all of the high school studies).

And this test is usually on July.

-----------------Second section over----------------------

Well, if you fail all two,
then just wait for another year!!
That is what we student and parents worried about.
Because it is somehow a lot of pressure ^_^
