I have heard goats are one of the easiest livestock to take care of, especially compared to sheep.

Any comments?

Goats don't take a lot of care.

They should have atleast a three sided shelter (a small shed, or if you have a barn, that's good), and a well fenced in pasture for them to roam. They should always have fresh water (that's a given) and hay.

You can also buy goat feed at a local feed mill, and feed them about a cup of feed each, more if they have just given birth. They should be dewormed every six to eight weeks. Rabies shots can be given, but I don't believe they are required for goats..

Hooves should be trimmed if they seem long, so that they don't affect their walking.

Good luck!

Taking care of goats is a major responsibility. One goat keeper correctly summarized it as, "Goat-keeping is a 365-day a year job. You cannot just say 'I do not feel like taking care of the goats today.'" While one can occasionally delegate the responsibilities of taking care of goats to a qualified individual, a goat-keeper cannot just purchase goats, put them in a field, and expect them to be okay.
