You are, indeed, a simple man! Why should you entertain the thought that you will be neglected by her? First thing is you must be determined to take care of her; and she will automatically reciprocate by taking your care. You see, it is always a two way traffic in human behaviour. You must have seen it among your male friends also. The same is true, too, with your life partner.

You are rejecting yourself by basically taking the first shot at yourself.
Try to ask a simple question (not simplistic - don't make yourself look stupid), but something about the place or situation you are both in at the moment. Act friendly, not as if you are going to take over her life.
It's best to start on a "friend" basis, then see if there is actual "spark" between you.
The more friends the better. Even if this one doesn't work out, you have made the first step.

You have either been hurt or rejected very badly to have this fear. If a person rejects you, they weren't worth it anyway and don't know what they were missing by getting to know you. Think of that way. The right person will come along and not reject you. You must have patience. Good luck.

A good hair cut and nice outfit sometimes helps. Sometimes you have to work from outside in... Get that confidence first. If you're not confident, you're not gonna get the girl.
