Is homosexuality any worse of a sin than pride, lying, lusting or stealing?

I would like to hear from the Christians who say that God hates homosexuality and that God will send the homosexuals to burn in hell. Give me a chapter and verse that states homosexuality as being more of a sin than any other sin. Be careful in mentioning Sodom and Gomorrah to prove your point unless you are willing to concede that everyone that God destroyed in the flood was homosexual and everyone who died in the city of Jericho was homosexual and prove the same with every other time that God supernaturally destroyed a group of people. So is homosexuality any worse of a sin? Answer this please. :-)

Homosexuality is a sin? That's a new one to me.

WORSE THAN MURDER? Wow! That's an interesting one. My God loves me for being the way he made me; I can hardly believe that he finds me living my life the way he intended as worse than murder. But who am I to judge? I'll let Him be the one to cast the first stone when I meet him.

This guy just wants to make me angry? I don't see how. I think Socrates said it best, “The unquestioned life is not worth living.” But then what did he know, he was gay! I would think a question like "Will a priest who molests an innocent child go to the same Hell as a murderer?" would be more along the lines of a question intended to make someone angry. Although I'm curious about the answer.

Homosexuality is not a sin. The idea that it is a sin is based on the idea that the Bible is God's Word, divinely inspired and without error.

While we have none of the autographs of the Bible, the early manuscripts we do have have and that are known to be genuine, by the most conservative estimates, have 200,000 differences between the wording in them, and while many are not meaningful, some completely change the doctrine of the church. (Ehrman, Bart, Ph.D.; Misquoting Jesus: The story behind who changed the Bible and Why; Harper Collins, 2006 -- p. 89). less conservative estimates range up to about 400,000 -- and there are programmers now endeavoring to write a program that will be able to count the exact number of variances.

And that's only the start of the difficulties for the Bible. If you only use the Textus Receptus (Received Text) as it is printed in modern Bibles then you are looking at enormous problems anyway -- in fact insurmountable ones. The World does not have corners (Isaiah 11:12), nor does it sit on pillars (I Samuel 2:8), nor water (Psalms 24:1-2). God did not establish a solid dome over the earth (that's what firmament literally means) and he does not have a palace on top of it from which angels can come and go up Jacob's ladder -- which might be reached by the tower of babel -- and where he keeps "treasuries" of hail and snow (Job 38: 22-23). For the sake of all that is decent, you can't even harmonize the 1st and 2nd chapters of Genesis with each other, say nothing of being able to defend the Biblical creation as scientifically factual. That's no surprise though, as the Bible tells us that beetles have four legs (Leviticus 11: 21-23) and that rabbits chew their cuds (Deuteronomy 14:7). It says that pi is 3, not 3.14 (I Kings 7:23 and 2 Chronicles 4:2) and that the mustard seed is the smallest seed in the world and grows into a tree [neither of which are true] (Matthew 13: 31-32). It is hardly a font of rational thought or scientific accuracy. Furthermore these errors only scratch the surface. Try harmonizing accounts in Joshua and the telling of the same tales in timeline in Judges sometime. If you can you are more proficient than any theologian I've ever met, and I've met a few.

Late bronze age men created the OT and early iron age ones the NT. It is not surprising therefore that God cannot lead Israel to defeat Iron chariots after promising he would (Judges 1:19), and it is not surprising that the flight of Israel from the god Chemosh, after the king of a city the Jews were beseiging and that God had promised them they would overthrow The King of the city offered his own son to Chemosh as a human sacrifice, resulting in Chemosh driving the Israelites away (2 Kings 3: 19-27) -- further it is not surprising that no punishment is mentioned -- the Israelites were still sacrificing their own children, as is evidenced in several places, but most graphically in Judges 11:30-39

The long and short of it is, the Bible is a mythic book, written by bronze and iron age men who were recording primarily oral legends in written form. In any realistic sense it is drivel. You can see, just in the passages I noted above from 2 Kings -- the last vestiges of polytheism fading away. Chemosh was supposed to get power from human sacrifice, just as Jehovah did -- and that power allowed him to turn the table against Israel, despite the fact that God was with Israel.

Read the verses, read the context -- to all the things I've suggested, calm your breathing and thinking and ask yourself if this is really the God of the Universe you are reading about -- or a tribal deity, which has now evolved into the one we worship. I think you will find biblegod sadly lacking -- something the liturgical churches have been saying for hundreds of years. If you find yourself unwilling to even look -- ask yourself why? Are you willing to sacrifice the truth, in order to maintain a comfortable myth for yourself?

And if you want a chuckle, read the second, and theoretically final version of the ten commandments. They are in Exodus 34: 10-26. That is the covenant Yahweh actually made with Israel. No seething here.

I asked a similar question about where does the bible even say it's a sin. I said I didn't want any old testament quotes, since those were the laws that man wrote to guide the Hebrew nation back to a civilized culture after they'd spent generations as slaves. (Heck, they had to be told to wash their hands before they eat.) These same verses say women can't go to church during their period, and that masturbation is a sin. I got a lot of old testament anyway.

The only new testament verses I got were from the letters Paul wrote to the churches, but Paul also is a man, a man that, if you read his stuff, was obviously very tempted by sexual issues and swore off sex all together. He'd had the whole world be celibate if he got his way.

No, the only commandments handed to us BY God, and endorsed BY Jesus were the 10, and nothing in there indicates in any way that homosexuality is a sin.

As a matter of fact I like this question and I see some wise answers. There is no need to prove if you believe. Homosexuality is a sin but is it any bigger of a sin then murder? Of course not. To God sin is sin, there is no big sin, little sin, or in between sin. If you have sin then you need to just ask for forgiveness. God says that you must forgive not 7 times but 70x7. To continue to return to sin of doing the same thing is quite hipocrite of course and you cannot allow God to forgive the same sin more than once if you continue in it purposely. Though we are human and the flesh is weak God must also be The Punisher and be become a God of justice. He is your Father. When you who fall or do something wrong you must be corrected. Yet like a Father he comes back as a God of love and embraces you. Taking you back into his arms to show you that he only wants what is best for all of us.
It is not our place to judge but for God to judge. Judge not or you will be judged first.

No all sins are the same and can be forgiven.
I am a Christian. Jesus loves everyone.
Hate the sin, love the sinner.

Any sexually immoral act is despised by God,
homosexuality, adultery, bestiality, etc...
The homosexual person is still loved by God though
If they know what they do is wrong and seek forgiveness
then they will be forgiven, but they think its ok.

Oh, and be careful about saying "my god would do this or that...."
That is idolatry if how you describe what you think God SHOULD be like is different from what He really is like.

I think there ARE greater sins. Murder and rape is an example. But what about those Mose brought down from the mountain? Stealing. Worshiping other gods (MONEY! SEX! Other things we bow down to) and what about premarital sex! That is a no no. Or disrespecting your mother and father? Didnt he say "honor thy mother and father?" Yet I see kids screaming at their parents. Telling them to shut the F**K up! Some even hitting their parents! and what about Drug dealer??? They not only put themsevles at risk but what about the ones they sell drugs to? They are killing them to make money! So, as you can see, there are FAR FAR worse sins. and someone said "all sins are the same." well then where and when did the saying come from, "of the two evils which should you choose? the greater or the lesser sin?" So therefore, there IS a level of sins. Homosexaulity is about ONESELF. It doesnt necesarily HAVE to involve other. It is the ATTRACTION to the same sex. Doesnt mean you HAVE to have sex right? anyway, thats MY opinion. Take it or leave it.

I f you give in to it then you commit sin, but if you turn away then you're walking at the right path however it won't be easy.

(no fornication) Any immoral act related to sex is a sin against yourself, no one else. I don't hate any gay or lesbian or any other people because we all sin in a way or another and I don't have any bad comment to it. Any of the sins you mentioned are bad for other people like if you steal, lie, kill, or so and so but you are crated sacred.
of course you can make yourself the worst thing, can be not only with a another men girl orgy etc you can go to skid row, have the worst of the drugs, and do the worse mentally and physically is this going to change my mind, no, is your decision and you're just free as anyone else.

can one sin be any worse then another ... well taking gods name in vein is depicted as by far the worst of all sins. I would like to think that god views all our sins equally appalling. sexual depravity is a sin and laying down with the same sex is deprave. As being only human we are probably hindered to understand fully gods define wisdom but I am just grateful he is above me and able to look down in mercy to those that believe in him and ask for his forgiveness.

but nice try making your sin "not so bad " compared to others still sinning and you know it
