Honestly, try asking them to leave. Explain to them that they are dead and that there is no reason for them to be there anymore. Reassure the ghost(s) that the place is in good hand and that you will care for it.

Probably nothing. It sounds like they're pretty harmless. The older your house is, the more energies it will pick up. Some of these may be genuine spirits who for whatever reason decided against leaving when they died, and some of them may be psychometric residue of events in the past. Even the living can haunt a place in this way. I'd exlain to the children that it's ok, it's a good thing that they can see these things. That they won't be able to be hurt by them. (For the record this is not always true, but if your ghosts were malevolent, they'd have given evidence of that by now.)
It might not be a bad idea though, to burn some sage. It'll sort of work as an ereaser for the energies without consiousness, calm the good spirits, and malevolent entities seem to not like it very much. If you hire someone from outside to banish them, however, previously non confrontational entities will feel threatened, and bite back. So if you do that, be absolutely sure that whoever you get is up to the task. For the record, I've never met a Christian priest who was up for this- it's not their fault, but their beliefs make it difficult for them to truly believe in what they're seeing. Catholic doctrine states that people can be posessed, but not houses.
Whatever you do, be calm about it. Fear is an emotion very likely to build up even more psychometric residue, and before you know it, you'll be haunting your own house!

Have you seen the ghosts? Has your mother? Has this experience been limited to the children? The younger mind is quite easily influenced and has a very active imagination. If one child is told there are ghosts, and they want to believe there are, chances are they will see ghosts. When another child is introduced to the environment, the first child will likely share this source of anxiety. This can result in yet another believer in ghosts. Panic and anxiety is contagious much like the flu. I would try to not encourage such paranioa and fear inspiring explorations of imagination in a child. Do encourage imagination, but just not the destructive type.
If you and your mother start to see ghosts, then one must conclude that either you as well have been influenced or there really are ghosts. If you accept the former answer then seek counseling, perhaps you are over-stressed and this is merely a projection of stress, or maybe there are harmful neurological damaging substances in the air. If you accept the latter, do some research on your home, maybe it was the site of a gruesome murder or was a burial site. Then seek the help of a local shaman or wiccan who may be able to banish these negative energies.

The next time one appears, ask them to leave. Maybe you could get some information on your house from years ago, (library) to see if anything bad happened, You say about 12 -13 yrs. you have lived there. Have they tried to harm you? It may be them wondering why you are living in their home. I bought my home in 1988, we have a few people crusing around our kitchen and spare room area. They don't bother me and I don't bother them. Of course...I do not freak out over things like this either. Children are very apt to see spirits, angels, ghosts.. because they are there, and nobody has ever told them otherwise (which is a good thing), they do exist. If it bothers you that badly, or if they start doing things to your family, then, and only then would I consider moving. You never know who will have lived/died in your next house, and it may be a little more aggressive. Keep an open mind. When you are gone... maybe you will want to come around and make sure your family is alright. A-lot of times they come in dreams, so they do not spook you. Good Luck.

The best thing I can suggest is to calm down, Ghosts more often than not are harmless energies that aren't able to move on for some reason. Try and find out more about the history of the house e,g who lived there. See if there's any particular reason why these spirits might need to move one and if there's anything you can do to help them. Above all don't panic, because otherwise that'll just aggravate the situation and hurt your kids.

First of all, ghost's are not real. They are only fictional characters in movies and it is through the movie experience that we are afraid of ghosts. Young kids are the ones that are affected by these experiences the greatest and get scared more often. This is why kids should not watch over rated movies. Their brains are still developing what is real and what is not, and if they watch scary movies during this process they will tend to believe that it is real, which in reality as adults, we know it is not. They are only illusions because everyone can't stop thinking about ghosts in that house. If you stop saying there are ghosts in your house, everyone will soon forget, and move on. The woman's face in the window is only delusional to your brother because he wants to believe there are ghosts so his imagination creates glance images. Its a way for his imagination trying to satisfy his belief. That is a fake belief that ghost exists.

Relax!!! The reason the children maybe able to see them and you can't is because they are innocent and do not have a Vail over there eye as adults do. There are many possibilities of what you can do first i would call your clergy person to bless your home or you can bless it yourself. Lite a white candle and ask the lord to bless your home and all your family within it. tell them they are dead. Ghost linger in a place cause they do not know they are gone. You should research your home to see who it maybe. What state do you live in? I am very interested in your situation and would like to help you and your family. As I to have had a similar experience.

Please don't be afraid of ghosts. Fear will cause you to interpret things in a negative way. Ghosts won't harm you, but your imagination could. I've lived in haunted houses, and the house I live in now is haunted. My advice is to talk to the spirits around you, tell them they are welcome to stay, but ask them please not to frighten anyone. I know from personal experience that this works. Unless you let your superstitions get the better of you, once you accept the ghosts you'll eventually develop a sort of "friendship" with them and think of them as part of the family. It happens all the time to people who have learned that ghosts are nothing to fear.

The radio site is ran by George Noory. Check them out.

in all reality what you should do is find out what these people look like and then find photos of anyone that ever lived in this house then you have to find out how these people died. then light a sandalwood or rosemary incense and clear your mind then reach out to the spirits by calling their names and talk with them spirit to spirit and explain how they died and tell them that everything is okay and that you have everything under control at the house and tell them to go home and be at peace. afterwards find their graves and place one red rose in the center of the grave stone and a small white pebble at each corner of the gravestone.
