My son and I loved Istanbul, on the Northwest coast of Turkey. It was the best ever. The Sea of Mara Mara, and the Bosphorus were fabulous. We stayed in the older section of town where the Hostels were mixed in with Hotels. And the Ancient Mosques were close by. We stayed for one month at the Star Hotel in an older section, 45 Stairs to the top floor. It had a little kitchen and a balcony with a little table, from which we could have a peek of the Ocean which was very close.
The Hostel directly across the street, was the perfect place for my son to meet people from around the World, he was also meeting his father for the first time in 25 yrs.
It had a bar and large T.V, food, and tables for Backgammon. And live music downstairs, and an occasional Belly Dancer.
The people were the friendliest in the World that I had met. If we needed to find a place, people would actually leave their work, and walk us to our destination. We enjoyed every day of it.
