The first law of advertising dating back to an infamous deal involving a forbidden apple states, "Tell them they can't have it, and they'll want it."
I really wish I could remember the source, but I recently read about a study where they took a small group of people and surveyed them about what they wanted most. The participants were then given what they said they had wanted and then surveyed for their overall levels of satisfaction, which were not improved.
In other words, we don't know what we want. In fact, whatever we think we want is probably what we shouldn't have.

I suppose people want to be entertained just by trying to own something they don't have. Once they get that thing, they feel that they can get more, so they try to get more. It's not really that you want the object, it's just the feeling of ownership and power over the object. Once gained, it's not actually wanted anymore.
Also, it's the trends and technology that changes every minute, so things are wanted after something else seems old and less advanced.

It's human nature, either taught to us early in our childhood with commercials and advertising or innate in our being as a joke from God. Either way, it's silly, sometimes devastating, and definitely must be kept in check.

That's the way God made us. We don't appreciate something we've got but always hanker after that which looks attractive and desirable when not within our grasp !

Becaue satan plants discontent in people's hearts--and they let him--so that they become greedy and serve him.
