Seems like he's a dying breed - can actually play from low E to high E. I think he's the last one left...

It's not the fact that he can play from E to E that makes him a spectacular guitarist, it's the fact that he is, as you say, the last of a [literally] dying breed of guitarists who can riff and phrase like gods! Not to mention his ability to solo is amazing, although sometimes he gets carried away by focusing on speed. After Dimebag Darrel's death, Zakk Wylde has become pretty much unchallenged as far as his gutiar god status is concerned.

HE IS A PINCH HARMONIC GOD

Blues influenced guitarists are the best, this is a fact. Zakk, Dime, Slash, Joe Perry, and many, many others prove this argument.

If you're into blazing guitarists, however, check out Sam Totman and Herman Li from Dragonforce. \m/ rock on

it seems that way but rock is going through some fad were there are no solos in the song but if you listen to some of the more alternative bands in metal you'll soon realize zakk is not the last of a dying breed kerry king from slayer rips amzing solos using every string and the guitarists from trivium do as well

Zakk may be great, but he's not the last great guitarist.

The breed isn't necessarily dying, it's just changing. I say it's about time. We need more great guitarists that think outside of the play-scales-as-fast-as-I-can box.

The last great guitarist? Not as long as Phil Keaggy, Larry Carlton, Carlos Santana, and Eric Clapton are alive.
Maybe he is the best in the genre you mostly listen to.

it is a dying breed ...the trend to not play a lead started with nirvana. i am noticing a trend now with some of the new bands that are coming up and bringing guitar leads back. i dont like much of the new music but i must say one i heard and liked was avenge sevenfold. their guitar player has demonstrated his ability to shred. and by the way: dude that thinks kirk hammit is the best....your out of your friggin scull sack!
