Can women develop hunchbacks from carrying large purses/bookbags?

when i go out with a purse i always find myself hunching to the right or left and my shoulder starts hurting. i wonder if its good for my posture?

No it is not good for your posture. Our bodies were not built to bear the loads of a heavy purse or luggage on one side of our body. This can affect your posture and stride. It throws you spine out of alignment and can cause early arthritis, back and joint problems. To ease the pain a backpack is helpful because it distributes weight evenly. But do not carry a back pack if it is more than 10 % of your weight (same goes for the kids) If you don't want to use a back pack use a smaller purse with a strap that can go diagonally across the body and rests at the hip.

Not sure about the actual hunchback, but chiropractors and orthopedists regularly trace the origin of women's spinal problems to handbag related chronic stresses. And once your back is messed up, that leads to other problems. You hold your head and neck at peculiar angles in response to the pain, and then they start to hurt too. You walk 'funny' and before you know it you have foot problems.

Men suffer a related problem. Sitting with one butt cheek on fat wallet creates stresses on the spine that can eventually lead to pain, injury.
