I was lifting tables, desks, and chairs all by my self and with the assistance of others, too... for a long distance. The problem is... I've done this before. I was helping a teacher move her stuff from one part of my school to another part.

Like I said, I've done this before... many, many times. Every time I move heavy stuff for long distances my biceps end up hurting for DAYS. Sometimes, the pain lasts a week... or a week-and-a-half.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can get the pain to stop? How can I ease the pain?

BTW, I don't particularly want to try hydrocortisone or cortisone creams... because they damage bones and underlying muscular tissue (a known, but lightly-spoken medical fact...).

DAMNIT, IT HURTS!! >:-o!!

dude there is a chemical that is produced in muscles called lactic acid. Its what makes you tired and sore. If you stretch before and after lifting it reduces the amout of lactid acid that you build up. Stretching afterwards really really helps. Hurts when you stretch but it minimizes the overwell pain and duration of pain hope that helps.

It sounds like you overworked your muscles. Since some time has passed use heat to your arms like a heating pad three times a day if you can for 30-45 minutes. Do not lift heavy objects for awhile. To prevent further injury or possible rotator cuff tear of the shoulder. use good body mechanics: keep the object close to your body, use your legs when lifting. For now try Ibuprofen (aka Motrin) every 6-8 hours,or Aspirin with food as directed. They both have anti inflammation properties that can also help with your pain. Use these drugs wisely. You may be lifting objects that are too heavy for one person. Don't risk hurting yourself permanently. Lift smart. Get help. I hope you feel better soon.

You may have some chronic fibrotic tissue from the previous injuries you have sustained and unless this is worked on you may continue to have issues and not tolerate progressive strengthening to the bicep.I would ask for a therapy consult to an Occupational Therapist or PT that has special training in ASTYM, a treatment that can clear out the fibrosis and progressively allow full stretch and strengthening to your muscles. Good luck and in the mean time make sure you're doing some gentle stretching and icing.

You are over-exerting your capacity for lifting.
Move objects with the brain and not the muscles.
When was the wheel invented?
Lift awkward objects using the buddy system, even though they may seem light enough to carry.
Do light exercises often at home with 5 lb weights to build up strength.
Each muscle in the body has opposing muscles. Work out with both biceps and triceps, etc etc. left and right side development equally.
Work on stomach with sit ups to strengthen.
Work with legs, lifts, jumping, running, to build them up.
Lift objects with entire body not just arms. And breath.

Soreness is normal. The muscles are in a building mode after a workout.

stretch and it my help to take an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen. also, stay away from hot showers unless you are about to start physical activity again as this rushes blood to the area. another great way to help is three cycle of ice for 20 min then 20 min off.

When tearing muscles, even seasoned trained folks, one of the quickest fixes for me has always been Bananas! the potassium goes to the muscles quickly and seems to ease better than pills!

your gettin a work-out, thats all! You may possibly be causing microtearing of the filaments in the muscle, but it need not require medical attention.Just compress your muscles with the opposite hand to your biceps.you could add heat as well when they are feeling sore.

stay away from ibuprofen. the tiger balm joint and muscle cream will sooth you, while panadol will add relief to your sore area. it should take two to three days to clear. apply tigher balm three to four time each day, easpecially before sleep. really, there is nothing serious in your case.
