Would any managers out there ever hire someone for a manager position who didn't have manager experience but had a great personality, a powerful drive to win and guaranteed you she could do it? Would that be something you'd consider?

A powerful drive to win isn't the point. Management and people skills are what count.

I would. Sounds like that person has the qualities of a manager. Everybody deserves a chance.
And consider this: Job experience one can learn, but great personality, a powerful drive to win and a guarantee that she will succeed is a character quality that you don't learn in school or on the job.
I'd say go for it...!

Yes I would consider this person. I have five managers under me and i work them together as a team. If someone came in with no management experience then this might give my other managers a new prospective.

there are plenty of open managerial positions that don't require you to have that experience. i'm a manager and in charge of hiring and firing. i look at the whole application and not just the experience section when i make decisions. although i don't get to hire for manager positions, so i guess my opinion doesn't really count ;p

Yes. How did we get our first manager job? Someone believed in us. That's why there is usually a 90 day probationary period. That allows Both of you to see if this is a good fit. Go for it. She may knock your socks off. And if not, at least you gave her a shot.

They tend to start you out at tehbottom even if you do have experience. You will still have to "work" you way up.
