Do you know it is delibarately left that way.
Do you know why?
It is to show that on Leader Board except its name, all other who are there are those you do a spell check whenever they write answers.
Also it shows that Yahoo! team is also made of mortals like us.
It also shows that as promised by Yahoo team it is all real persons even those you have used term leaderboard
It also shows that do not stress your self for literary language but give quality & useful answers and get on leaderboard.

I think in the world of sports people write it as one word. Putting it together is a fairly recent practice -- come to think of it, electronic leader-boards are a recent invention -- so it may not appear together in dictionaries.
