I'm a lesbian. She isn't. I'm her first girlfriend. She's having a tough time dealing with it. And yet it's been 3 years. I know she loves me and yet something holds her back. Is it her family? They don't approve of her being with a woman. They are very catholic. I really wonder if I was important enough to her, she'd do anything for me as far as her family is concerned. If I was enough, she'd yell from the highest mountain that I am hers, right? I have been so patient with her to admit that she wants to be with me. I've been patient to wait for her to tell her family.
She is a latin woman through and through. Her family is everything to her and she thinks she'll let them down if she tells them she is with a woman. I think they'd just want her to be happy. Maybe I'm just delusional. I'd love to hear input from other Latin lesbians who may have gone through the same thing.
I just don't know what to do.

I am not lesbian, but I come from a large Latin, catholic family. Yes we do have lesbian and gay family members and all of us love them and respect they are for who they are...hey they are the only family I have. Just bear with her and stick by her side. She is most likely blowing it up more than what it is. I know I do when it comes to my family about anything. Don't lose her she sounds like she means a lot to you.

Im not a Latin lesbian but I understand diversity and tradition. Different cultures have different beliefs. It may be possible that her family may not aprove and turn their backs on her. But at the same time it's been 3 years. In my opinion she may not be sure of what she wants out of this. I know because I am in a simular situation.

I think you have to understand her family situation...there are times that we don't need to publicly announced our feeling just to prove that we love someone, right? What is important is what she and you truly feel... Just give time and let nature do its course... dont be demanding, though. be understanding.. and soon acceptance would be yours... in the meantime, let it not affect you deeply... continue loving each other... put a lot of trust.. and be happy, ok?

If she isn't a lesbian I would say that is the problem :).
Love is great.. but attraction completes the package.
