For those unfamiliar with the Batman story, Batman is Bruce Wayne. Teenager Bruce Wayne was traumatized by witnessing his parent’s murder and vowed to avenge their deaths by bringing the criminals to justice. Bruce Wayne used his vast fortune to study criminology, to train his body to athletic perfection, and to acquire high tech vehicles and weapons to fight crime in his hometown of Gotham. One night Bruce Wayne was startled by a bat outside his window and decided to dress himself as a “bat man” to strike fear in the “cowardly and superstitious” hearts of criminals. From that moment forward, Bruce Wayne became “Batman” in his altered state.

NO! because as a boy he fell in an old caver on his fathers estate, and had bats swarm him. that became his biggest fear and he used it as a fear for others who do wrong. he became batman when he grew up but was spurred on by his parents mugging/death when he was a child. Watch batman Begins, It is a GREAT movie!

although the stories stated above might be true but i think that as he had seen his parents die, he always liked to stay in the dark and as bats stay in the dark, it gives him a fearless and a deap look. And as we also know he works at night like the bats.

Batman models his persona on the bat, nocturnal, silent... It is something Bruce Wayne was afraid of and he wanted to make criminals have this fear.

'Myotis Grisescens - man' didn't really work for the producer of the show, so they decided to call it 'Batman' instead.
