Biggest scandal? The one we're having RIGHT NOW over breaking the Geneva Conventions and our treaties by having our military torture uncharaged civilian prisoners on Presidential order.
Everyone has underestimated the long-term impact of this mistake except our worse enemies, who are delighted by it.

A difficult thing to say. Many scandals are known of because of the openness of the USA. Political, social, academia, publishing, sports -- almost every section of society has been struck by scandal. To name a few that are biggies: 1919 Baseball World Series, Watergate, Teapot Dome, Enron, Iron-Contra, Whiskey Ring, Monika Lewinski, Piltdown man, Dr. M.L. King's Doctoral Thesis, Roman Catholic Church (sex scandals). The list goes on and on. Which one is the biggest? That depends on your point of view. A scandal always offends and disgraces the moral fabric of a society.
