Stop burning fossil fuels instantly is the only way and even if we stopped everything tomorrow....it would take at least 40 yrs for it to take effect. Cause the earth itself naturally releases carbons and other items that we release as well.

That means no more coal to power the electric plants.

No more natural gas to heat your home or cook your meals.

No more oil or gas for cars or trucks so that means no one gets to work and no product can be moved around the planet to other locations. This would include boat fuel as well.

To stop global warming means to make everyone go back to almost cave man status. Live at home with fire and hole in ground for ice chest. Kill animals for food and clothing.

The warming isn't what you have to worry about. That is just the first stage of the problem. The world will heat up more and more. But then once it starts to melt all the ice in the poles that will release more carbons than man has ever released in all of our years. This in turn will block out most of the suns warmth and then in turn plunge the earth back into another ice age. UK, USA you name it and it will be covered in 20-60 ft sheets of ice again.

We did not cause global warming so their is no reason to 'fix' it. The sun is hotter than normal and there is also global warming on Mars (I don't think it is because of our rovers exhaust fumes)

The only thing that needs to be done to protect the environment it to contain toxic chemicals, trash, and other waste materials from entering the environment.
