Government knows best whats good FOR GOVERNMENT, namely keeping us "teaming masses" in check. Since government not gonna voluntarily give up its power, YOU must choose your areas of freedom. The man can't be everywhere, all the time.

Some political philosophers argued the government does know best because the government in the time of Aristole and Plato were composed to senators or politicians who were chosen and trainned from a very young age to rule as politicians, therefore all of their decisions are for the best of its citizens.

No, you have to remember that the government is controlled by parties/people who have their own agenda. They claim to care about the "little people" but they are only human, they are watching out for themselves/their parties first.
