Hi! My daughter is 10 weeks old and I stopped leaking around 5 weeks postpartum. I was wondering if it's possible to bring milk back in if you pumped enough? And also how much would be enough??? I guess I was just curious and sort of wishing I hadn't quit breastfeeding...

What makes you think you dried up completely? No leaking is *not* necessarily a sign of no more milk production. It can be a sign of decreased milk production (especially since you are not nursing at all), but you can continue to produce some milk for many weeks after.

Yes, you can pump. It may work. Better still is to nurse your daughter; a nursing baby is more effective than any pump. You probably need to nurse at least 10-12 times in 24 hours to be effective. Since pumping doesn't work as well, you would probably need to pump at least 12 times a day.

Please call your local La Leche League Leader for help, though (see sources section below). It is usually a long process, and you will need help and support along the way.

do you drink tea.. tea will dry the milk up..
next any spices on your foods this will do it..

ok yes if you start to night pumping it will take a few days and you will only get a small amount but dont give up.. eat cheese like crazy,, whole milk, cottage cheese. pasta.. starches.. this will help gain the milk back..

did you know that even a man can breast feed all he has too do is start to express his nipples and in a few weeks he will start to build this up... a lot of fathers in this generation are taking on the mothers role and they are the home providers.

so dont listen to the doc. i have been raisin kids for 25yrs.. and my daughter just had a child 5 months old.. we all live to gether for college and career and jobs.. so i am mother hubbord..

just dont give up even my daughter starts to dry up..

now what i want you to do.. is this.. every 2 hours pump.. you have to tell your body it has to produce this.. when it is feeding time put your child on your chest.. and just keep going.. sooner or later you chest will start to produce untill then suplament with the formula.. you can even mix the two if need for the amount so she will not lose the tast..

even if you dont have milk you can still breast feed your child.. and when she is done feed her a bottle.

good luck..

Call you OB/GYN and tell them you have dried up and would like to start nursing agian. There is a medication to help stimulate your milk flow again along with pumping.

I have heard of this happening, but I don't really know much more about it. I'm sure if you spoke to a lactation consultant, she could help you out. Try Le Leche League if you don't know of any consultants in your area. They have a website, and have representatives everywhere.
