I use to be bad for biting mine till I swapped careers into the automotive paint.
I use acetone and lacquer products all day and they got on my nail, when I would go to bite them the chemical would be real acidy tasting.
I stopped cold turkey after like 26 yrs of biting them and haven't bit them since.
Since you are a female......wipe fingernail polish remover on your nails a few times a day. That is acetone based and when you go to bit you will taste it. Few days of this and I am sure you will cure yourself.

Try painting them. Sounds too simple, but I swear it worked for me. I used to bite my nails and cuticles until they would bleed. My hands were so sore. One day, someone suggested that I paint them in the hopes that I wouldn't want to mess them up. At first, they looked so bad that I never showed them to anyone. I kept my hands in my pockets or under the table. After a while, they started growing and now I don't bite them anymore. I get a manicure one a month. Much cheaper than acrylics and much prettier in my opinion. Good luck!

I stopped biting my nails when someone told me you can get worms from the dirt underneath. That was all I needed.

My cousin used to dip her fingers in either chili flakes/chili powder.
It takes a lot of patience+discipline, but the fact that you actually WANT to stop is a good step forward. Just keep working on it.
The chili method did work, though. :-)

My co-worker had that problem, until her boyfriend made her put her fingers in **** (dog's crap). Afterward, she never bites her fingernails because of the taste and smell.

I think they have this nail polish stuff which tastes bad.
Or use some bitter / hot stuff on it.
