Epistemology is a little understood discipline, yet it holds the potential to keep politicians "honest," society "rational," and "sanity" assured. Collectively, we lack the metacognitive awareness to enact the demands of this discipline... and this MUST change... the future of our union may well depend on it. I ask for people to give me what they believe it entails. REMEMBER: Epistemolgy is "knowledge about knowledge..." this is, grant it, an overly simplified definition, but nevertheless an accurate one. Hint: Think upon human reconnoitering dialogue and what it entails...

Epistemology is the branch of philosophy which studies the nature and scope of knowledge. The word "epistemology" originated from the Greek words episteme (knowledge) and logos (word/speech).

Much of the debate in this field has focused on analyzing the nature of knowledge and how it relates to similar notions such as truth, and belief. Much of this discussion concerns justification. Epistemologists analyze the standards of justification for knowledge claims, that is, the grounds on which one can claim to know a particular fact. In a nutshell, epistemology addresses the questions, "Do you really know what you think you know?" and, if so, "How do you know what you know?"

Sorry...it will never happen. As you point out "Collectively we lack the metacognitive awareness to enact the demands of this discipline..." The future of our union does depend on it but it will never happen. Am I a doomsayer? Of course not!Just one who sees the eventual as, unfortunately, progressing to itself.
First, most of the smarties have to go. (Therein is the problem re: uncontrolled future)
Second, most of the dummies have to go(Therein is the problem re:ignorance to not learn from past)
Third, most of the middle has to go (Therein is the problem re: present complacency)
You've been born too late, beyond the time when fewer people who knew fewer things did the least offensive things to the earth and each other. (But you would have to have had the passion along with your metacognitive awareness-something not so urgently necessary then as now)
Its nice though. I'm an average person in the midwest US and at least with your question and what little I can make of it, at least someone in this world doesnt think its so infinitely large that their little self doesnt make a difference.
Anyway, thats just a comment. I am in no way qualified to give you an answer true to your question.

Socrates started the study of knowledge originallly. There are so many theories on epistemology. Distinguish between false knowledge and true knowledge. Knowledge is simply an awareness. It is not complete unless it is reviewed and understood fully and beyond any reasonable doubt. Knowldege is from sensory perception, rational analaysis, derived from similar models. People fail to remember the thing coming within their knowledge. They see a lot of T.V. news and papers and discuss. But fail to recollect the things when they poll . So it is better to create awareness of events taken place .

I would start by re-reading Descartes, Locke and maybe even Plato. Unfortunately, those books are buried in my garage. Sorry to disappoint you. At least you've inspired me to clean out my garage.
