Apart from Malaysia I have lived for extended periods in Australia, China, England, France, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and the US.
It is a very safe country whereby people are friendly and communication is easy. It is very possible to go around the whole country just speaking English.
Comfortable amenities (air-conditioning, good clean food, else Mc donalds, internet, phones and transportation) is widely available throughout the whole country.
It is well developed.. Luxurious 5 Star international Hotels and shopping available in major cities. (Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, Malacca, Kota Kinabalu, Johor Bahru)
With a muliti cultural population mix of ethic malays, chinese, indians, portugese and some caucasians..Malaysian food is good as there is a wide choice of traditional and fusion styles.

Coutry to visit for culture, food, beautiful beaches (Pangkor Laut Edmerald Beach - voted top 3 luxurious beach resort by conde nest) beautiful dive spot (Sipadan - voted top 3 in the world), lush tropical jungle (Malaysia boasts the oldest rainforest in the world). Fantastic mountain resorts (take a walk back in tinme @ cameron highlands).

too much to tell

most important in comparison with the other places i have lived in. Malaysia is fantastic value for your money......
5 Star International Hotels for less than US$70 per night. A Mc donalds value meal for less than US$1.50 most local meals for around US$ 1 -2...
worth looking into

I spent the day there once. I can't speak for the whole country just the area right across the bridge from Singapore. I can't remember the name of the city.
I almost feared for my life. A group of us went, it seemed dirty, and I felt compelled to look over my shoulder constantly. Even though we were in a shopping mall. We were constantly afraid of being mugged. And we were afraid of the food.
Although I was rich over there. I broke a $50 and ended up with like a couple grand of their money. So that was cool.
But mostly I found it to be dirty and smelly.

Disclaimer: I only spent the most of one day there. Right across the bridge from Singapore.
Singapore... now there's a beautiful friendly little country. It's no Liechtenschtein but nice anyway.
