Hy, my name is Danilov( my real name) and I'm a vet from Romania. What many people just like yourself think is not as appropriate as asking yourself what kind of conditions can you make for the pet you want to get. The most clean exotic pet is a tropical fish. Here I can give you some pointers, cause I breed them ( 5 years next month_got over 150 species :). Funny little critters. The best fish if you don't have enough time to spare is a Vietnamese Fighting fish or Beta Splenders. You don't need so much equipment for maintaining a good quality of life for these fishes. They have gills but also a reminiscence of a lung ( they where amphibious creatures in the distant past, so they can breath air, so you don't have to change their water so often. They eat very little, 2 grams of food per week, depending on the size. They can grow up to 2 inches, but they are very aggressive. Not towards people but to other fish. Get a male and put a mirror in front of him. He will see red in front of his eyes and start a battle with the fish in the mirror :) Don't worry he won't hurt himself. You can find them in you local pet store, but in my country is not so easy. Had to go all the way to the Philippines to get some breeders. Cheers. Hope you've made up your mind. ( When they go in battle mode- the male is the warrior- he starts changing a little his color and distends his unbelievable fins looking like a lion getting ready for rumble.)

I have a green iguana. He is great now, if you want an exotic that you can tame an iguana is the best. I can hold him now and take him out when I want. The only thing is, is that you have to make sure you feed them the right things. They are vegetarians. Spring mix is the best salad for them, it has all the right veggies in it. They also like raspberries and melons. Nico (iguana) is not even a year old and he's over a foot already. Anyways all I have to say is that they are great animals.

Try a chinchilla! They look like little gizmos. They have pretty good jumping power, but they seem very friendly and are absolutely adorable!

A Snake: No claws, you only have to feed it once every few days(mice) and, depending on the type of snake, like a python, they never bite you!

piranha... make sure your state does not have law against it. As long as the fish is in the tank, don't put your finger in the water. Feed them beef... very cool fish.
