No. I think that people from the classic rock era (Artists and listeners) hate todays rock. My dad hates a lot of new music I love like Shindown, Creed, Nickelback, Nirvana and those kind of bands. The people of this era should be more open minded and enjoy so great music of today. John Mellencamp rocks.

For years on end, since the 90's--I've wondered the very same thing. It's a three-way tie on which is tragically worse: "Alternative" rock, "new" country....and rap.
It really seems like the public, as a sore joke, decided one day to take totally talent-less "musicians/singers", and promote them to music star (even superstar) status!!
There's totally NO pride in today's music: from the band, studio technicians right down to the CD album art work--it's pretty much glitzy trash.
In the 60's and 70's, record label A & R people sought out singers and bands with real talent. Combined pride was taken between them, studio music engineers and even album jacket work artists. Look closely at their album artworks: each one is a unique piece of art, worthy of gallery art display.
You just don't see or hear that at all these days. It's getting really hard to belive Rock isn't dead or dying.

Nope. Either just on life support or in a coma. If youre talking about mainstream though they are ALOT of other genres giving rock a run for it's money. Artists like Chamillionaire, Shakira, Rihanna, and etc. are doing real well nowadays.

How many times
Can they fill me with lies
And I listen again
Twisting the truth
And they're playin' around with my head, O.K.
The things they will do and the things they will say
But they don't really understand
Tears fill my eyes when I hear all the cries
For the reason today
And they don't really know even what they're talkin' about
And I can't image what empty heads can achieve
Leave me alone, don't want your promises no more
'Cos rock & roll is my religion and my law
Won't ever change, may think it's strange
You can't kill rock & roll, it's here to stay
Lookin' through eyes of time
Mirrors reflecting their stories untrue
Promises, promises
Telling me all of my glories overdue
How many times have I heard it before
And I'll probably hear it again
King of a thousand knights, pawn in a table light
Losing to you
And they don't really know even what they're talkin' about
And I can't image what empty heads can achieve
Leave me alone, don't want your promises no more
'Cos rock & roll is my religion and my law
Won't ever change, may think it's strange
You can't kill rock & roll, it's here to stay
Even the rhymes that they
Give me in times of confession ain't true
Outcome is obvious
All for them, none for us
Meaning you too
The things they will do and the things they will say
When they don't really understand
Fear of rejection, I need their protection
I'm making a stand
'Cos they don't really know even what they're talkin' about
And I can't image what empty heads can achieve
Leave me alone, don't want your promises no more
'Cos rock & roll is my religion and my law
Won't ever change, may think it's strange
You can't kill rock & roll, it's here to stay
Leave me alone, don't want your promises no more
'Cos rock & roll is my religion and my law
Won't ever change, may think it's strange
I'm born to rock & roll, I'm here to stay, yeah

I think what Ozzy Osbourne said is more accurate -
You Can't Kill Rock N' Roll
How many times
Can they fill me with lies
And I listen again
Twisting the truth
And they're playin' around with my head, O.K.
The things they will do and the things they will say
But they don't really understand

And I can't image what empty heads can achieve
Leave me alone, don't want your promises no more

Won't ever change, may think it's strange
You can't kill rock & roll, it's here to stay
Lookin' through eyes of time
Mirrors reflecting their stories untrue
Promises, promises
Telling me all of my glories overdue
How many times have I heard it before
And I'll probably hear it again
King of a thousand knights, pawn in a table light
Losing to you
And they don't really know even what they're talkin' about
And I can't image what empty heads can achieve
Leave me alone, don't want your promises no more
'Cos rock & roll is my religion and my law
