I went to Graceland yesterday with a friend. The general public is not allowed to go upstairs. Does anyone have any idea what's up there? That may not be the best question... but this is my first time and I was just basically sitting here trying to think of something that I wanted to ask.
:-)

The bedrooms and baths,The people at Graceland says that the steps can not with stand the heavy traffic of people, and at one point in time his Grandmother still lived there and she stayed upstairs.

I went there about 7 years ago & it has bothered me ever since that people aren't allowed upstairs! I guess it's out of respect that they dont let people up there but why let bunches of people in the rest of the house; Graceland only exists because of the revenue (big bucks) so why cant they see that if they'd charge an additional fee for taking people up there then they'd make even more?... then again maybe if everyone was allowed then it wouldnt be so alluring so maybe I just answered my own question. Well hope you had fun anyway, enjoy Yahoo Answers!

Just bedrooms and the bathroom where Elvis died. Their reasons for not taking people upstairs is that they don't want people to see where Elvis died, and supposedly it wouldn't be practical for groups to go up and down the stairs at the same time because they are not wide enough. So, it seems we'll never see the upstairs.

Now I know for certain we'll never see the upstairs. Can you believe Priscilla and Lisa Marie took the Prez. and prime minister on a private tour and I just read that they didn't even get to see the upstairs. So, the staircase isn't the main reason!

well they claim that the stairs will not hold the tourist. but the real reason is that Elvis died upstairs and they don't want people seeing where he died at and his bedroom.
They look at it as a invasion of privacy but they will make money off the rest of the house. Don't worry if they ever start running out of money they will do tours of the upstairs.

Upstairs is considered Elvis' private area. No one is permitted to view the upstairs portion of the house. The upstairs portion includes a bedroom and the bathroom where he died on the shitter. Thank ya, Thank ya, very much ;)
