Perferably free? And I kinda suck at this things, so the more dumb-downed you can get the directions, the more thankful I'll be.

I'm assuming these .wmas are protected, since I can't open them in iTunes currently?

iPods don't play any WMA files, whether they have DRM or not.

If you purchased the songs with a music service, you may be able to burn an MP3 CD using Windows Media Player which will convert the songs to MP3.

Start Windows Media Player.
Click on the Burn "tab".
Select CD Drive -- Data CD.

This assumes that you have a CD burner.

3ivx/Graphedit can do it...yet greater beneficial than in all threat you would be wanting to apply iTunes, basically get carry of it (do no longer extremely use it for downloading, because it sucks greater beneficial than words can exhibit), import the archives, blah blah blah, its enormously self-explanitory. do no longer exchange the document extensions (i.e. as you have been advised to do interior the 1st answer), technically this is an mp3, even though this is extremely in basic terms a .wma with a different tag which will soak up greater area than a typical mp3 document.

Why do you need to switch it to mp3? My iPod and iTunes takes .wma just fine. It doesn't take up any more space than the .mp3.

you could download audacity and convert it in there by choosing to export it as an mp3. You will also have to download the mp3 converter which is lame.dll. They are both at audacity.sourceforge.net

iTunes will automatically convert them for you, unless they are protected! Just drag them over, and it will ask you if you want to convert. Just say yes!!
