Mid-wifering is terrific and lucrative. We had a registered midwife working for us at one of the places I worked at. We hried a lot of Polish immigrants and most of the time they feared the doctor and hospitals. So we had a young lady who was a mid-wife. She delivered approximately 4 babies a year in the plant and 100 to 150 outside the plant @ $500 for at least $50,000 a year.

In West Virginia they are typically pain $70000 a year. Plus or minus benefits etc....

You can go to http://www.nursingworld.org or ANCC at http://www.nursecredentialing.com and find actual salary results from research they have done in advance practice nursing for midwife, NP's and CNS nurses and of course the anesthesia nurses who get paid the REALLY BIG BUCKS

It is a good profession well paid but still deal with MD's afraid that you want their job. I dont' . I like mine better. I spend more time with the patient they need to see more to make more. Not me.

I've heard per visit they get about 500 bucks. Now if you have a few more couples instead of just one this could be some good money.
I had always thought about being a midwife but never knew where to start. Good luck!

Contact a college that trains midwives and see if they can give you an average. I'm sure that different states, hospitals, etc all pay differently!! Good Luck!
