Check out any of the email from the intended yahoo user on your yahoo email account.
You will find a yellow typical similey against the user's yahoo ID if he/she is online

Watch their personal message status, it could change. And also watch the song they are listening to, if they are using Yahoo Music at the time, it may display a song title.

You can't really. People know when I was invisible though, because when I sign out it automatically go mobile...so it shows me signing into that.
