Seriously, my 25th birthday is next week and my boyfriend keeps asking me what I want. but I can't think of a thing. Of course there is alot of things I need, like new clothes. but those are things I need to buy myself. Money is a little tight so he can't afford something extravigant.
We are new parents and already have a babysitter for going out for the night. We are going to dinner and a movie. But I can't think of a gift I should ask him for. Ladies any suggestions?

No wedding ring.... How about a 'Mother's Ring'? These are somewhat inexpensive, with only having one child right now. ;-)
How about a day off, next Saturday. He baby-sits, and you have a day out to have fun. No cost, but every mom likes a day off.
A family portrait? If the frame costs too much, just buy the picture.
You could make that dinner & move a bit special... how about that special dessert you never order?
When I was a newly wed, and we had our first.. funds were tight too. He bought me a nice little wooden jewelry box. Not expensive to most folks, but for us it was. Today that baby is now married with four of her own... and I still have my little jewelry box.
Just remind him, it's the thought not the price.

well, he's already given you a treasure: a child. Maybe he could give you his last name?...I like to give, and receive, 1) books; 2) food; 3) gift cards. As a general rule of thumb, I ask for (& give) things that either can be used again, or get used up, (like food) or provide storage for something. Also, I tend to forget what I want -- so I keep an ongoing "list of things I'd like" in the kitchen, and add ideas to it as they occur to me; that way my family can choose from several kinds & price ranges, and can surprise me. "The person who has everything, needs a place to keep it !" ..it's so sweet that he wants to do something special for you. Let him give you something -- and try to suggest something he will enjoy giving, as much as you'll enjoy receiving. For me, a homemade coupon for a free massage is a treat ! For someone else, free babysitting would be just the thing. Gifts of service are always nice; and if you want a tangible memory of it, take a photo. I've told my husband I'd rather have the dishes washed for me, than get a dozen roses. We've been married 22 years.

How about a poem? Ask him to write a 15 line poem and that you'll love him no matter how good of a writer he is. It is the thought that counts.

Yeah I agree, get married already and quit playing house.
Why do you have to get anything for your birthday? Why don't you two volunteer somewhere and GIVE something to the world.

How about a month's worth of doing household chores for you (if he's not handy in that area). That does not cause $ at all, but holds a lot of weight for us women. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

A cheap MP3 Player. If he can afford an iPod then go for it. If not, then you can get cheap ones for maybe $30.
