Not really hard, but dangerous if you are inexperienced. I wouldn't suggest just picking it up, and trying it. The acetyline tank can explode if not set at the correct level. Once you get the basics down, it is, to me, the most fun!

Ryan your wrong! It's welding when you join to peices of steel ect together by heating it to melting point. Brazing is at lower temp with filler rods. Select a good pair of goggles #5 or higher. acet. should never go over 15psi and o2 should be around 20 for fusion welding. torch tips vary as to how thick the material your welding is. You start by lighting the acet and slowly mix in the o2 until the flame is clean and a sharp point apears. if it starts to his back off the o2. ready your metal start heating with goggle on look for the metal to become liquid a small round area a puddle of liquid metal move the tip around and watch the puddle follow . thats the basics becareful

Easy to learn, hard to do it well. Takes lots of practice and steady hands. I have seen some that is better than arc welding.

that's called BRAZING.....welding is a completely different technology. Hard to do? takes some education and skill. both brazing and welding. Hard??!? what can YOU do? I'd like to be able to do both. Do it! give it shot. won't hurt to learn. difficult for me to find an instructor to teach me for free.
